Is Bamboo easy to maintain?

Are Bamboo floors easy to install?

What is strand woven bamboo flooring?
Strand woven bamboo flooring is manufactured differently by taking strips of bamboo, coating them with resins, then pressing the strips together using a tremendous amount of heat and pressure. This creates a bamboo flooring that's even harder than traditional bamboo flooring.
What is "carbonized" bamboo flooring?
Bamboo can be stained like regular wood, but many manufacturers choose to carbonize the bamboo to change its color. The bamboo is steamed at an extremely high temperature (boiling). This actually caramelizes the bamboo, and the resulting shade is dependent on how long the process is done. Another result is the bamboo becoming softer (only about 5%), but the finishes offered more than compensate for any change in its hardness.
What type of finish does a bamboo floor have?
Typically, bamboo floors (and most hardwoods) come from the factory with an aluminum oxide finish (diamond being the only thing harder). The quality of the finish and the amount of coats applied to the floor determine its overall durability, warranty, etc.
What's the difference between "vertical" bamboo and "horizontal" bamboo?
This is simply an aesthetic difference and a matter of personal taste. Horizontal shows you the more natural side of bamboo flooring, knuckles, growth rings and all. Vertical is showing you a different side of the bamboo, creating a cleaner look without the natural markings. Other than the look, there's virtually no difference.
Can I install bamboo flooring in my bathroom?
This is not recommended. Bathrooms are exposed too a little too much moisture too regularly, and it would likely cause enough expansion and contraction to be a problem.
Can I install bamboo over concrete?
Yes. Engineered bamboo flooring (see bamboo construction types) can be glued down to concrete, and in some cases, even floated.
